Tiki's Tok's World Domination

During these past few years, the world has transitioned from the social media apps of Musical.ly to Tik Tok. If you did not know what either of these is, they both allow an individual to make lip-syncing videos to songs and edit them to the person's necessity or extent. Since Musical.ly was canceled in 2017, Tik Tok has taken the world by storm by arousing the social media platforms-but just how is this happening?
If one were to scroll through Tik Tok, what you would really see is a bunch of weird videos of people that are trying to become "famous" by uploading 'unique' videos of themselves to the world. Personally, I really did not understand how or why people were going on this app, for it is a multi-billionaire company. Then I noticed something strange-if you scroll through any other media page like Snapchat, Twitter, or Instagram, you will see that the memes that people are obsessive about are purely just Tik Toks. This app has become such a joke that the media has turned it into a meme dispenser that never stops producing them as long as people keep making their videos.\
I have experienced first hand when one of my best friends had downloaded Tik Tok. She started to make them play songs that were purely comedic and said that everyone at her school was practically addicted to making them. I took a look at some of the Tik Tok videos she was claiming people at her school made, and every single one I watched was a spin-off of a meme that has already been made or just hilarious self-made videos that were meant for comedy.
This relates back to the effects of media on today's generation because media is what has blown not only Musical.ly but Tik Tok into a worldwide joke-that makes tons of money everyday without people realizing it. Kids and Teens are influenced by these apps because it is what is most focused on, like a new trend that won't stop. I wouldn't call Tik Tok a mastermind company, but dang did they get lucky that our generation fell for such a comedic and simple app that is consistently used today.
